Phuket Police Under Investigation for Failing to Deport Foreign Criminals

6803333476_aaaccf039a_nThe Royal Thai Police (RTP) are investigating allegations of misconduct against officers in Phuket, Bangkok Post reports.

According to the RTP, 2,415 foreigners have been arrested in Phuket. However, only 685 of them were deported by the Immigration Bureau. This indicates that around officers have taken bribes from around 1,700 offenders in exchange for allowing them to stay in the country.
