Hot! Haitian Immigrants Granted Entry to U.S. without Visa

Statue of LibertyThe Obama administration announced plans to expedite immigration for eligible Haitians under a new family reunification program, according to The Washington Times.

The Haitian Family Reunification Parole Program is spearheaded by the Department of Homeland Security and will be fast tracked beginning in 2015.

According to the DHS announcement, the parole will only extend to Haitians with 1) already approved family-based immigrant visa petitions and 2) whose immigrant visa priority date falls within the next two year period of the U.S. visa backlog.

The immigration lawyers at Thai law firm Chaninat and Leeds have decades of experience assisting clients with the application process for US Visa for Thai citizens.

The Washington Times reports that the program was criticized as “irresponsible” by ranking Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who questioned the program’s logistics and its impact on American workers.

Nonetheless, according to the Miami Herald, the policy move was backed by Haitian and immigration advocates who have pushed for legislation to address the issue since the earthquake in Haiti nearly five years ago.
