New York Bans Gay Conversion Therapy
New York governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that insurance companies, including Medicaid will no longer be covering gay conversion therapy, which claims to turn homosexual people straight.
As Tablet reports, Cuomo spoke at the Human Rights gala in New York, saying:
“We will not allow the misguided and the intolerant to punish LGBT young people for simply being who they are.”
Several US states have already outlawed the dubious therapy for minors, including Washington DC, California, Illinois, Oregon, and New Jersey.
