Hot! Nightlife Workers in Cambodia Granted Rights under Labor Law Update

Bar SignThe Bangkok Post reports that Cambodia passed regulations to protect the worker’s rights of employees of nightclubs and other adult entertainment venues.

The U.N. commended the regulation to Cambodia’s labor laws which “dares to reach into a sector where most governments fail to provide adequate protection.”

According to the Bangkok Post, Cambodia’s labor and tourism ministries said they hope this move will help to address violations of worker’s rights like sexual harassment, forced labor, and reduced wages.

In contrast to this new development of worker’s rights in Cambodia, in Thailand all workers in lawful occupations have rights protected under Thailand’s labor laws regardless of industry or social status.
