Thailand has previously been dubbed ‘Land of Fakes‘ due to the vast array of counterfeit goods on offer and seemingly lax attitude to those who sell and buy them. However, as Bangkok Post reports, following a series of raids, the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD) is set to prosecute over 150 companies who have been using pirated software.

Businesses who use pirated software are not only breaking the law, but also exposing themselves to the risk of hackers, as many of these illegal programs have big privacy gaps.

The total value of the pirated software adds up to some 13 million baht.

Those found guilty will face fines between 20,000 – 200,000 baht.
