The now famous Bangkok fast food joint “Hitler Chicken” continues to hit worldwide headlines.

A picture of the outlet was originally posted on twitter by a travel writer, which was re-tweeted so many times, it caused the story to hit headlines, and the Daily Mail even quoted an individual who claimed he had eaten there. The original tweeter however claims it was a picture he found online. It is thought the picture was taken circa 2011.

The picture was however considered so legitimate that KFC even sought legal advice whether the sign outside the restaurant breached Thailand trademark law arguing the colors, design, imagery and font were a copy of their own familiar sign.

However it the story now seems set to fade as it is now reported that the outlet has either now closed or in fact never really existed in the first place. Those who allege the latter insist the Daily Mail made up the quote it used.

Thailand’s craze with so called “Nazi chic” has caused outrage among many western tourists, but Thailand attorneys explain it stems from ignorance of history rather than any intentional malice.
